For hydraulic cylinders, their sealing is very important. If the sealing fails, its work will be greatly affected. Among the sealing components, the sealing ring is one of the most important components. Under normal circumstances, as long as the machining accuracy and roughness of the cylinder wall of the hydraulic cylinder can meet the production requirements, and a layer of lubricating oil is applied on the cylinder wall, then its sealing performance can be guaranteed.
Obviously, although the pressure in the hydraulic system is relatively large, and the contact stress between the sealing ring and the inner wall of the hydraulic cylinder is also relatively large, the friction generated between the two is limited. Generally speaking, the axial displacement of the sealing ring is very small, so the problem of wear is not easy to occur. Moreover, it can also be learned from many practical application cases that the sealing ring generally does not show obvious wear and tear.
In addition, there are some elements around the sealing ring that can play a supporting role, so the axial displacement can be controlled within a small range. Especially when the internal pressure and external force are balanced, the bottom of the sealing ring groove of the hydraulic cylinder will not be damaged by tearing or perforation.
However, this does not mean that the sealing ring will not be damaged. In fact, its damage form is often manifested as extrusion of the rubber. For example, when the pressure is 350MPa, after being squeezed by the axial force, the sealing ring will be slowly squeezed out a lot of rubber like cotton. The rubber will fall out of the gap between the axial hydraulic cylinder and the static pressure shoe. If this happens for a long time, the seal will eventually fail.
Therefore, this situation will greatly affect the service life of the sealing ring. And if we want to avoid this problem, then we must first find out the cause. In fact, the reason why the rubber of the sealing ring is extruded is mainly caused by the hydraulic pressure and the gap between the hydraulic cylinder and the shoe body.
